Windows update download files
Ask a new question. I have Windows Update set up to automatically download files to install but not to actually install them automatically as it never fails it does them while I'm in the middle of an online game and I get kicked from the game for the restart. Windows Update downloaded IE 8 but it is to high a processor; I think x82 or x Since it has not been installed I can't go to Control Panel to remove it so need to find it so I can delete it and get rid of that darn yellow exclamation point and Pop Up window telling me I have downloads waiting for installation.
In the Run box, type services. Click OK. Right-click the Automatic Updates service. Click Stop. Stopping the service will take a moment. Delete the contents of the Download folder Click Start. Choose Run. Open the Download folder. Delete all contents of the Download folder. Close the window. Start the Automatic Updates service Click Start. Click Start. Starting the service will take a moment. Because the files have only been downloaded and not installed, you can safely delete them without worrying about harming other programs or files that contain your company's important data.
Double-click the "C:" drive icon. Scroll down the list and double-click the "Windows" folder. Open the "Download" folder. Right click the Windows Update files you want to delete and choose "Delete" from the menu.
Answer "Yes" when the deletion confirmation dialog box appears to move the files to the Recycle Bin. Open the Recycle Bin on the desktop and right-click the Windows Update files you just deleted. Select "Delete" form the menu and click "Yes" to confirm you want to permanently remove the files form your computer if you are sure you no longer need them.
